Looking for a place to stay in Ko Phi Phi?

Phi Phi doesn't exactly lack guesthouses, bungalows and resorts! In Ton Sai village you'll find accommodation in almost every corner - I'm sure of it.

But have in mind that during the high season (November-February) the prices for accommodation on Ko Phi Phi rise.

That's because there are so many tourists and backpackers on the island at this time of year.

So if you're planning to spend Christmas/New Year's in Ko Phi Phi, I strongly recommend that you book a room in advance.

This was one of my many mistakes;

I stopped by Ko Phi Phi around New Year's in 2007/2008 and thought that it wouldn't be a problem finding cheap accommodation. I was clearly kidding myself when I heard that there were few "budget" options. I even heard that the "normal" price for a room would be between 700-1500 B.

So again, book in advance! This way, you'll save time, money and energy.

Here are some options for accommodation in Phi Phi, all located in Ton Sai village!

The Rock in Ko Phi Phi

Price per night: Dorms from 300 B, rooms 500-600B

The Rock Backpacker is one of the few dorm accommodation you will find in Ko Phi Phi. So, if you're looking for cheap accommodation, you should try The Rock.

I didn't get to spend a couple of nights there because I heard about this place on my last day in Ko Phi Phi.

But I met two backpackers at the Garlic 1992 Restaurant who told me about the Rock:

The Rock is Spartan basic, and its location makes it even better -

It's right next to the array of restaurants, shops and a only a 3-minutes walk to Lo Dalam beach. They even have their own restaurant where they sell great Thai dishes!

You should book a couple of days ahead cause it fills up quickly during the high season. Staying in Ko Phi Phi is not exactly cheap, and that's why a lot of travelers choose this place.

Oasis Guesthouse

Price per night: from 800 B

I didn't find my room at Oasis guesthouse particular special, but it had a clean bathroom, hot water, fan, Western toilet and it was only a 5-minutes walk to Lo Dalam beach.

My room was on the 1st floor, so I had problems sleeping at night because of the thin walls. That would be the huge minus about Oasis! I could hear all the noise from the street.

RC Guesthouse

Price per night: from 1000 B

For this price you can get a double room with attached bathroom, hot water and Western toilet, fan, mirror and a wardrobe.

Internet surfers will find a small internet "shop" downstairs and they provide laundry services. Otherwise they arrange pick-ups at the pier, and it took about 3 minutes to walk to the beach.

I had arranged pick-up, but somehow they forgot it. Two Thai ladies were looking at each other with a expression of "Oh my god, we forgot to pick her up!"

The place has thin walls, just as Oasis guesthouse. In the middle of night I could hear my British neighbours doing it.

You can just imagine I didn't sleep well during those three nights I spent there :-S
