20 - 30 days in Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos

Question: I'm planning on backpacking through Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.. Staying from 20 to 30 days and departure from Singapore... Which order do you recommend? Do you think it's enough time to get to know the main places? Thanks

Answer: Hey Camila, it depends on what you define as main places ;) If you were thinking about typical destinations in these countries like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, then I would say yes, you have enough time (if you're traveling for 20 days). That would be about 2,5 days at each destination + travel time. You can spend more time at each destination if you travel by air.

Which order to recommend? It depends... are you returning to Singapore? In your case Thailand would naturally be the first country to start your travels.

I don't know if you're going to stop by Malaysia and go border crossing to south Thailand, or if you're flying straight to Bangkok...

From north Thailand or central Thailand, you can border cross to Laos. If you have time to visit south Laos, you can border cross from there to northeast Cambodia, then travel west of Cambodia, then border cross back to Thailand.
