Recommendations

Need a place to stay in Delhi?

You'll be met by thousands of accommodation options in Delhi. You should travel to Paharganj in Old Delhi - the backpacker area - if you want cheap accommodation, or Connaught Place if you're tired of hostels and looking at crashing at a fancy hotel. Connaught Place is the business and commercial center in Delhi.

We visited Delhi in March 2011 and spent time in Karol Bagh – a commercial neighborhood.

But since we only stayed a few days in Delhi, and only tried one hotel, I haven't much reviews to give you – yet. If you have stayed at a hotel in Delhi and you enjoyed it, feel free to contact me to give me your personal review :-)

Review of
Grand Park Inn

Price per night: from Rs 1,700 (Rs 1,950 for Deluxe AC with breakfast)

Grand Park Inn is truly a great hotel. My twin room AC on the third floor was large, neat and included all the amenities you could ever want from a hotel.

Bathroom at Grand Park Inn in Delhi

The attached bathroom was also very clean and nice. By nice, I mean that I enjoyed the hot showers! (yes you really get HOT showers at Grand Park Inn).

Their beds were very comfortable as I fell asleep right away while watching HBO on their TV. After staying at hostels and guesthouses for a long time, it really felt good to be able to tuck yourself in clean towels, clean sheets and slippers at all.

Another good thing about this hotel is the fact they provide free internet downstairs.

If you want travel information for Delhi, they will gladly help you with that. They suggested where we could eat in the neighborhood (they came up with Sandoz restaurant), and it turned out to be cheap and a delicious dinner.

So the service at the hotel is very good!

The day before departure they also arranged a sightseeing trip for the three of us.

For Rs 1,600 a day, a private driver took us to the major attractions in Delhi, in a large comfortable AC-car. It would have been cheaper if we let them know that it was just going to be the three of us (we were originally five people).

We could choose the attractions we wanted to visit. So if you want to arrange a sightseeing trip through Grand Park Inn, you better be ready with an itinerary.

I would definitely recommend Grand Park Inn.

How about the restaurant?

At their roof-top they have a restaurant overlooking Delhi. And the breakfast is included in the room price (if you want to).

During the evening they serve a variety of hot Indian dinners and Western dishes. Their dinners were OK as in, it was nothing memorable. The next time I would prefer to eat outside the hotel.

Their excellent service and the rooms make up for this! :-)

If you're traveling in a group, you should try the family room. By booking family rooms, you save money and at the same time getting that luxury.

Where: Karol Bagh. Only 2 km from Connaught Place and 2 km from New Delhi railway station. The metro is also close - we walked for 10 minutes before we reached the metro.

Below you'll find a hand-picked selection of recommended hotels at Tripadvisor, at different budgets.
