You've never really been to Koh Pha Ngan if you haven't attended the Half Moon Party.

No pressure ;-)

If you're looking for the all-time jungle rave party and love electronic music, Koh Phangan is the place to go!

Dance to exhilarating progressive house tunes, tribal house, jungel house, trance, drum and bass, techno and mixes of these!

Both Thai and international DJ's come to Koh Phangan to play the newest music. And they were honestly the best ones I've heard in my life. I'm a electronic-music nerd and I've been to many rave parties in my life, so I know the deal.

The atmosphere is unbelievably crazy, and the underground music will flow right into your veins!

... You'll feel it and you'll dance.

... It's like a drug, but it isn't.

... And even if you can't dance, no body cares!! You can be whoever you want and dance exactly the way you want.

Crazy Thai at Half Moon Party in Thailand

It's powerful to listen to excellent music with hundreds of other people in the mystical jungle, feeling the same way as you!

You'll see sweaty Thais and backpackers from every corner of the world, shaking their ass in the tropical heat while they're waving their light sticks and beers.

If you take a look around you, you'll only see happy people dancing to happy music!

Half of the dancing crowd are dancing with green luminescent paint in their faces, lighting up in the dark night. The buckets are passed from dancer to dancer, and are waaaay stronger than ordinary buckets! (Apparently someone behind the bars like to add extra Sam Song...)

And the huge dancing area in the jungle is stashed up with large screens, UV decorations and a fire show!

It's the place on earth you have to party, that's all I can say!

Like if you have a list with "Things to do before you die" (like I have), it should be among the Top 10..

It's that good AND it's way better than the Full Moon Party in my opinion.

Practical information:

Where: Baan Tai village, between Thongsala and Had Rin Take a songthaew to get to the half moon party (you can't exactly drive back to your place on a moped).

You should make an arrangement with the driver to pick you up after the party and settle for a price. If you don't make an arrangement, the songthaew drivers standing outside will try to charge inflated prices. You won't exactly be in the best position to bargain with them when you're drunk.

Start at: 09.00 pm

Entrance fee: 600 B

If you know you're allergic to green neon paint, don't let anyone put it on you! The morning after Half Moon, I woke up with swollen eyes, forehead and cheeks! It was clearly from the green paint. It looked like I was bitten by big, hungry mosquitoes! I got some strong antihistamine tablets from the local clinic, but I couldn't see anything for 3-4 days. I needed my friend's help to eat, walk and smoke (I stepped into mud pits all the time because of my eyes).
