Festivals in IndonesiaGalungan Bali: March 27th-April 6th, 2013 Balinese mythology is the basis for this event; bringing the good against the evil in fierce battles. Galungan is the celebration of the gods return with Balinese rituals.
Locals are dressing up and driving to and from the temples to offer food, fruit and flowers. As a result of this, many restaurants and shops close during the festival. Where: Everywhere on Bali, but Ubud is a good place to watch dances and ceremonies, like stabbing ritual and battle games. I know, it sounds bizarre.
Nyepi New Year: March 12, 2013 This is more of a Hindu festival where the Hindus perform purification rituals to cleanse wrongdoings in the past year and seek forgiveness from one another. Where: Bali, Indonesia
Bali Festival Spirit: March 20-24, 2013 Just reading the program makes me want to go: it's an event packed with domestic and international music, yoga, art installations, dance shows, seminars and retreats. Elephant Festival: March 26th, 2013 Just before the Holi festival, elephants are pampered and dressed up colorfully. A lively parade with lots of drum music and traditional dance shows originating from villages in Rajasthan. People start throwing powder and water at you, which marks the transition to Holi. Tokyo International Anime Fair: March 23-24th, 2013 This is a trade show where exhibitors can promote their products and animation. The public, like you and me, can attend live talk shows and buy anime products in the bazaar. In the "Overseas Room", foreign visitors can collect information in English and watch animation films.
