I traveled to Bangkok early this month and had made online arrangement for budgeted hotel/hostel during my three nights stay in Bangkok. In the beginning, I planned to stay at Headquarter Hostel in Silom Soi 3 road (located in the alley right before the Bangkok Bank Headquarter office) as it offered quite attractive package (2 nights stay free one night). I checked on their website and the rooms look good.
When I checked in at the Hostel, I was charged to pay extra fee as I brought 3 people (I initially confirmed for two people, but my aunt made last minute confirmation), so it costs me for one night stay at dorm room although my friend did not stay in that room.
In mostly Bangkok Hotel/hostel, you cannot bring along more people if you do not inform them earlier, and they will normally charge you the fee for the extra person.
The hostel has 5/6 floors, and our room is on the 5th floor. It was definitely not good if you bring old people like I did.
So, I decided to leave the hostel and find another budgeted hotel nearby.
I then found this hotel: The Baan Silom Heritage Hotel.
It's a downtown hotel, and you walk 10 minutes to reach the Surasak BTS station. The room is very clean, the staffs are friendly, very convenient air-con room equipped with television. The bathroom is clean, and the hot water worked well. They will clean up your room every day, and the price is affordable which after I calculate it's even cheaper compared if you're staying at hostel.
Price: It costs me 2200 baht per night for three people staying and it already included the breakfast.
So, if you have two or three people coming with you, especially older people then it's a great budgeted hotel to stay in :)
I did not take the pictures of the room, but you can check on their web it's pretty much the same.
